As a 5’0”, 110–115 lb backpacker, I’ve spent years struggling to find ultralight gear that actually works for petite women. While thru-hiking the PCT and trekking through the Sierra, I’ve seen so many other petite hikers wrestling with the same problem: most “ultralight” pads are far too long (why are they all 72”??) and unnecessarily heavy for smaller frames. I’ve tried several short mummy-shaped pads from other brands, but as a side sleeper, I’d always end up rolling off and waking up on the ground. I even attempted cutting and fusing pads to make something that worked—no luck.
