Good but the smell is a bother

The mattress is quite firm which is great for our little one, but there is a very distinct odor that I can’t seem to figure out. My daughters pajamas and hair smell like it every morning. It’s quite potent, but I’m hoping it dissipates as we have the mattress longer. We also found the mattress had many loose threads in the grooves.
