It is the most comfortable gaming headset I’ve worn so far and is very easy to connect. The audio quality seems good and I’m hoping that stays consistent.

Severely Disappointed - Significant Drop in Quality

I have had wired Cloud 2s for many years, and loved them. When the mic on my first set started failing, I bought another pair and they were just as excellent. Recently, I decided to switch to the Cloud 2 wireless, so that I could stop dealing with the cord, and I have been extremely disappointed with them, compared to my old wired ones. Clearly, there has been a significant drop in quality since HP acquired HyperX. I expected this to some degree, as I had seen people discussing it online, but I was taken aback at how evident the changes were. The audio is considerably quieter and the sound range is noticeably less full than the old versions. DTS X spatial sound is also much worse than the old 7. 1 surround sound, with audio that is quieter and comes from a narrower range of directions. The earpads make the headset extremely uncomfortable to wear - I could wear my old ones for 8-10 hours at a time with no discomfort, but these started hurting the edges of my ears after 30 minutes. The stitching on them is definitely stiffer, making them less flexible overall (probably why they're hurting my ears). The foam is about 1/16 inch thinner, which means my ears are pressed more tightly against the mesh inside, presenting some discomfort from the constant pressure. The foam also doesn't feel like it offers as much cushioning, so is probably made of a lower quality material. Luckily my old ear pads fit on the wireless version, which makes it much more pleasant to wear, but without this the headset would be unwearable. The wireless Cloud 2s are not without positives, however. The battery life seems very good - I charge them every other night or so, but probably don't need to, as the battery hasn't even gotten low by then. The signal range is exactly what I was looking for - I can walk around a significant portion of my house without losing connection, even around corners, behind walls, and between floors. The mic is clear and easy to attach/detach when needed. The audio, while worse than my old pair, is still clear and by no means bad. Unfortunately, the things this headset does well are the bare minimum for a useable wireless headset, while the things it does badly. . . are also essential to a useable wireless headset. Were it not for the fact that my old earpads fit, I would be returning this headset immediately. As it stands, the unfortunate fact seems to be that a good quality wireless headset comes with a much higher price tag, so I will need to deal with the downsides until I save up more. It is very upsetting to see a company that I would have once suggested to anyone in a heartbeat fall to this. I loved my wired Cloud 2s for years (and still do, if you have a Kingston pair, make them last as long as you can!), but HyperX has been taken up by a conglomerate that evidently cuts corners at the expense of their customers. I join many other longtime HyperX fans in saying that I intend to never again buy a HyperX product.
