The Gardenstraw mulch is absolutely indispensable in my garden! I'm in central Texas, zone 9a, and it's hotter than Hades here for a majority of the year. I used to get bales of hay or straw from feed stores, but they were always either really big and hard to store, or the hay/straw itself was long and difficult to get in place around plants. The Gardenstraw is the perfect size and texture for my vegetable garden, and it doesn't pack together, thereby allowing water to get to the soil and down to the roots. I never want to be without it!

It was very expensive for the amount I received... it was only enough to cover the garlic I just planted :(

I have never used staw before. This straw is a pleasant surprise. It is clean without any staw debris, and it is not itchy, as some are when bailing staw. In the past, I have used cheap colored bark, which is not as easy to handle as this staw. I am impressed and will buy more for my garden to guard the soil.
