Shop Pay
Shop Pay helps you check out faster when you’re shopping in participating stores by automatically filling in your saved payment and shipping information when you enter your email address at checkout.

Your information in Shop Pay
Shop Pay helps you check out faster when you shop in participating stores by automatically filling in your saved payment and shipping information after you enter your email address at checkout.
When you opt in to Shop Pay, Shopify saves the following securely encrypted information for your future purchases:
- shipping address
- billing address
- credit card details
- mobile phone number
You can save up to five shipping addresses and up to five credit cards in Shop Pay. Your mobile phone number is used for SMS verification of your account. View our Privacy Policy.
Opt in to Shop Pay at checkout
You can opt in to Shop Pay when you check out from a participating store.
Steps
- When you check out from a participating store, select Save my information for a faster checkout.
- Enter the required information.
- Complete your order. You see a notification on the order status page that confirms that your information is saved to your Shop Pay account.
You can instead opt in to Shop Pay immediately after you place an order in a participating store by selecting the option from the order status page.
Opt in to Shop Pay in Shop
You can also opt in to Shop Pay by downloading Shop.
Steps
- After you download Shop, tap Get Started.
- Choose how you would like to sign in with Shop.
- Tap Set up Shop Pay, then Set up Shop Pay again.
- Enter your mobile phone number, then tap Send verification code.
- Enter your verification code, and then your shipping address.
- Tap Save Address when you’re done.
- Enter the information for the card you want to use with Shop Pay, then tap Save card.
You can update your Shop Pay information at any time on the Profile tab by tapping Shop Pay.
Check out by using Shop Pay
To check out from a participating store using your saved information, click the Shop Pay button on the product page or in your cart. You can review your order before it’s final.
You can apply a discount code or gift card to your order with Shop Pay. During checkout, click Add a discount code or gift card, and then enter the code.
Manage your Shop Pay settings in the Shop app
You can update your Shop Pay information in the Shop app, as well as during checkout. The following information can be edited:
- shipping address
- credit card information
Steps
- From the profile tab in Shop, tap Shop Pay:
- To add a credit card, tap Add card.
- To change your billing details, delete and add your card by tapping Delete card, and then Add card.
- To edit your shipping address, in the Shipping addresses, section, tap on the address you’d like to change. Edit the fields that you need, then tap Save address.
- To delete an existing shipping address, tap Delete next to the address.
- To add an additional shipping address, tap + Add another address, enter your details, and then tap Save address.
Managing your Shop Pay settings on the web
You can edit your saved shipping addresses and credit cards on the web, as well as in the Shop app.
You can apply a discount code or gift card to your order with Shop Pay. During checkout, click Add a discount code or gift card, and then enter the code.
Steps
- Log into Shop in your web browser. If you’re logging in for the first time, then there’s a prompt to verify your account by email. If you don’t receive the email from Shop in your inbox, check your Spam folder.
- Choose how you would like to sign in with Shop.
- Change your settings on your Profile:
- To edit a shipping address, click `⋮`, then Edit. Update your address, then click Save changes.
- To add a shipping address, click Add address. Enter your new address, and click Save address.
- To delete an existing shipping address, click `⋮`, and then click Delete. Click Delete again to confirm.
- To add a card to Shop Pay, click Add card. Enter your card details, and select or add a new billing address. Then, click Save card.
- To delete an existing card from Shop Pay, click `⋮`, and then click Delete. Click Delete again to confirm.
Change your Shop Pay phone number
Steps
- Log into Shop in your web browser. If you’re logging in for the first time, then there’s a prompt to verify your account by email. If you don’t receive the email from Shop in your inbox, check your Spam folder.
- Optional: If you don’t have access to your existing Shop Pay phone number, then when you’re prompted to enter a verification code, click on I didn’t receive a code. You’ll be sent a confirmation link to verify through email instead.
- In the Account settings section, click Change next to your existing phone number.
- Enter the mobile phone number you want to use, and click Continue.
- A six digit verification code will be sent to your new phone number. Enter this under Verification code.
Review or edit your saved information at checkout
When you check out with Shop Pay, your saved shipping and payment information is automatically applied so that you can check out faster. The default shipping method for the order is based on the least expensive shipping rate or another preferred shipping rate that’s selected by the seller. You can review or edit the following information during checkout:
- shipping method
- shipping address
- credit card information
Steps
- During checkout, edit the shipping method, shipping address, or credit card information to use for checkout
- To change the shipping method, click the dropdown menu next to the default shipping rate, and then select the option that meets your needs.
- To change the shipping address, click the arrow beside Ship to, and then select a saved address or add a new address. When you add a new shipping address, you might need to verify your account using SMS.
- To change the billing address, click the `˅` button to expand the Bill to section. Then, choose or edit an existing address, or click +Use a different address. Click Save changes. or Save address to save the update.
- To change the credit card information, click the arrow beside Payment and then select a saved credit card or click Use a different card to enter information for a new credit card. When you add a new credit card to Shop Pay, you need to select a saved billing address or add a new billing address for the card.
- To delete a credit card, click the `˅` button in the Card section, click `⋮` next to the the credit card you want to delete, and click Delete.
- When your information is correct, complete checkout.
When you add a new shipping address or credit card during checkout, it’s saved to Shop Pay for future use. You can save up to 5 shipping addresses and 3 credit cards to Shop Pay. Although your saved shipping addresses appear in the list of billing address options, if you add a new billing address during checkout, then it isn’t saved for future use as a shipping address.
Verifying your Shop Pay account
You need to verify your account during checkout with Shop Pay in the following situations:
- You’re using the same device that you used to opt in for the first time after setting up your account.
- You’re using a new device or a new browser.
When you need to verify your account during checkout, you receive a verification code by SMS to the mobile phone number that’s associated with your account. Enter the SMS code when prompted, and then complete the checkout.
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), landline numbers, or numbers ported from a landline can’t be verified with Shop Pay. If you can’t verify your account, then you can still complete checkout without using Shop Pay.
Opt out of Shop Pay
You can opt out of Shop Pay anytime, and check out from your favorite stores using another option. To opt out of Shop Pay, enter your mobile number in the opt-out form, and then click Submit request.
Opting out of Shop Pay means your phone number and stored data will be deleted, and you won’t receive verification codes by SMS. You can still use Shop to track your orders and follow stores.
If you don’t want to use Shop to track your orders anymore, you can also deactivate your Shop account.
